Home Feed

Your home feed is the main screen you see when you open SoroSoke. It shows a mix of posts from people you follow and discovered content relevant to your location (LGA and state), pulling together civic voices from across your community.

What appears in your feed

Your feed is a mix of two types of content:

  • Following feed — posts from accounts you follow, shown in roughly chronological order.
  • Discovery content — posts from your LGA and state that the platform surfaces based on engagement, relevance, and civic importance, even if you don't follow the author.

Pull down to refresh your feed and load the latest posts. New posts appear at the top with a notification banner when available.

Post reaction buttons

Every post in your feed has four action buttons below it:

Verify

The Verify button is SoroSoke's community fact-check mechanism. Tap it to signal that you have confirmed the claim in the post — for example, you witnessed the event yourself or can independently confirm the information. The verify count shows how many users have endorsed the post's accuracy. Verified posts gain more visibility.

Loud

Loud is SoroSoke's amplification feature, similar to a repost or retweet. Tapping Loud shares the post to your own followers' feeds and adds your name to the Loud count. Use it to amplify civic news or issues that your network should know about.

Freeze

The Freeze button lets you flag a post as potentially misleading or unverified. When a post receives a significant number of Freeze flags, it is de-amplified and labelled for review. Freeze is not a dislike — it is a civic responsibility tool for combating misinformation. See How We Address Misinformation for more.

Share

The Share button lets you share a post outside SoroSoke — via WhatsApp, SMS, email, or any other app on your device. You can also copy the direct link to a post.

Commenting on posts

Tap the comment bubble icon or the post itself to open the full post view and leave a comment. You can also like and reply to other comments within the thread.

Why isn't a specific post appearing?

A post may not appear in your feed if the author has been suspended, if the post was deleted, or if it has been heavily Frozen (de-amplified). Posts from accounts you have blocked will not appear.

LGA-based content

SoroSoke uses your device location to identify your LGA and show you locally relevant civic content. If your location is unavailable, the feed falls back to state-level or national content. You can control location permissions in your device settings.
