SoroSoke exists to amplify civic voices across Nigeria. Our community standards are designed to ensure the platform remains a safe, trustworthy, and productive space for civic engagement — while protecting free expression and factual discourse.
Our core principles
- Authenticity — be who you say you are. No fake identities, impersonation, or artificially inflated engagement.
- Safety — do not use the platform to threaten, harass, or harm others.
- Accuracy — post truthfully and use the Freeze feature responsibly to flag potential misinformation.
- Respect — disagree without attacking. Critique policies and institutions, not people's ethnicity, religion, or identity.
What is not allowed on SoroSoke
- Hate speech targeting any ethnic group, religion, gender, or other protected characteristic.
- Incitement to violence or calls for harm against individuals or groups.
- Sexual content, nudity, or content harmful to minors.
- Doxxing — publishing someone's private personal information without consent.
- Coordinated inauthentic behaviour — running multiple fake accounts to manipulate discourse.
- Spam, unsolicited commercial promotion, or pyramid schemes.
- Content that violates Nigerian law or the Cybercrimes Act 2015.
How we enforce these rules
SoroSoke uses a combination of community reporting (the Freeze button) and internal review to identify policy violations. Actions taken may include content removal, account warnings, temporary suspension, or permanent suspension depending on severity and frequency of violations.
Appealing a decision
If content was removed or your account was actioned and you believe it was in error, email support@sorosokegpl.com with a description of the situation. See About Suspended Accounts for appeal details.
Reporting content
Use the Freeze button to flag potentially misleading content, or use the three-dot menu on any post to report it for policy violations. Reports are reviewed by our moderation team.
