Safety and Cybercrime

SoroSoke is committed to user safety. We prohibit content and behaviour that causes harm to individuals or groups, and we cooperate with Nigerian law enforcement on cybercrime matters where required.

Harassment and bullying

Targeted harassment of another user — including sending repeated abusive messages, coordinating others to attack someone, or publicly mocking someone's appearance, disability, or identity — is prohibited. Users experiencing harassment should:

  • Use the Block feature to prevent the user from contacting them.
  • Report the harassing content using the Report option in the post or message three-dot menu.
  • Contact support@sorosokegpl.com for urgent cases.

Threats and incitement to violence

Any content that explicitly threatens physical harm to another person or group, or that incites others to commit violence, will be removed and the account permanently suspended. We will report credible threats to the Nigerian Police Force or relevant security agencies.

Non-consensual intimate imagery

Sharing, threatening to share, or soliciting intimate images of another person without their consent is strictly prohibited and may constitute a criminal offence under the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Act 2015. Such content will be removed immediately and the account permanently suspended. Contact support@sorosokegpl.com to report this privately and urgently.

Fraud and financial scams

Using SoroSoke to run financial scams, advance fee fraud (419 schemes), impersonate financial institutions, or solicit money under false pretences is prohibited and may be reported to the EFCC or NITDA.

Child safety

Any content that sexualises minors will be immediately removed, the account permanently banned, and the incident reported to the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) and relevant authorities.

Cyberbullying during civic events

We pay particular attention to coordinated attacks on civic actors — journalists, activists, election officials — especially around elections. Participation in such campaigns constitutes a serious violation of this policy.
