Platform Integrity and Authenticity

The value of SoroSoke depends on genuine civic participation. Fake accounts, bots, and coordinated manipulation undermine trust in the platform and in the communities it serves. This policy explains what is prohibited and how we respond.

Fake accounts and impersonation

You may not create an account that:

  • Falsely represents you as another real person, public official, celebrity, or organisation.
  • Uses the name, photo, or identity of a well-known Nigerian institution (e.g. INEC, CBN, a state governor's office) without authorisation.
  • Is designed to deceive other users about who is behind the account.

Parody and satire accounts are permitted provided the bio clearly states the account is satirical (e.g. "Parody account — not affiliated with…").

Spam and inauthentic behaviour

Prohibited behaviour includes:

  • Mass-posting identical or near-identical content across multiple accounts.
  • Using automated tools, bots, or scripts to post, like, follow, or Loud content.
  • Purchasing followers, Verify counts, or engagement metrics.
  • Operating multiple accounts to artificially amplify a viewpoint or inflate trending topics.
  • Sending unsolicited commercial messages to other users via Direct Messages.

Coordinated inauthentic behaviour

Any coordinated campaign designed to manipulate public opinion on the platform using deceptive tactics — such as networks of fake accounts posting during elections or around sensitive civic events — is a serious violation that will result in permanent removal of all associated accounts.

Consequences

Violations of this policy result in content removal, account suspension, or permanent ban depending on severity. We may also report coordinated manipulation campaigns to relevant Nigerian authorities where applicable.
