About SoroSoke
What is SoroSoke?
SoroSoke is Nigeria's civic social platform where citizens can report issues, verify information, and amplify community voices across all 774 LGAs. "SoroSoke" means "speak up" in Yoruba. The platform rewards civic participation through S-Points — a contributor reward metric earned for meaningful engagement.
Is SoroSoke free to use?
Yes. Creating an account and using all core features of SoroSoke is completely free. In fact, you earn S-Points for participating.
Is SoroSoke available on iOS?
The iOS app is coming in Q3 2026. Currently, you can use SoroSoke on Android (Google Play) or via the web at app.sorosokegpl.com.
Account and Sign-in
Do I need a phone number to sign up?
No. You can sign up with an email address and password, a phone number (OTP verification), or through Google sign-in. Phone number is required only if you choose that sign-in method.
Can I use SoroSoke without creating an account?
Yes. SoroSoke supports anonymous browsing — you can read posts and explore the platform without signing up. However, you need an account to post, like, comment, message, or earn S-Points.
How do I change my username?
Go to Settings → Profile → Edit Profile and update your username. See Help with Username Registration for rules.
S-Points
What are S-Points?
S-Points are SoroSoke's contributor reward metric — a measure of your civic engagement on the platform. They are not a currency or financial asset. S-Points are tracked in Settings → My S-Points and used to rank contributors on the leaderboard.
How do I earn S-Points?
S-Points are earned through civic activities: having your posts Verified or Loud'd by others, and creating quality content. Each action earns raw points that are multiplied by your badge tier to give your final S-Points total.
What is the badge multiplier?
Higher badge tiers (Silver, Gold, Platinum) apply a multiplier to your raw activity points. A Gold member earns more S-Points per verify than a Basic member for the same action.
Can S-Points be converted to cash?
No. S-Points are a contributor recognition metric, not a financial instrument. They cannot be sold, transferred, or withdrawn.
Posts and Content
Can I edit a post after publishing?
Post editing is not currently available. Delete the post and create a new one if you need to make a correction.
What does "Freeze" mean?
Freeze is SoroSoke's community flagging mechanism. Tapping Freeze on a post signals that you believe it may be misleading or unverified. Posts with many Freeze flags are de-amplified and reviewed. It is not a dislike — it is a civic responsibility tool.
What does "Loud" mean?
Loud is SoroSoke's amplification feature (similar to a repost). Tapping Loud shares the post to your followers' feeds, giving it wider reach.
Privacy and Data
How do I delete my account?
Go to Settings → Delete Contents & Account → Delete Account. You will be asked to verify your identity first. See Deleting Accounts for a full walkthrough.
Does SoroSoke store my precise location?
No. SoroSoke uses your location to detect your LGA but only stores the LGA name, not your GPS coordinates. See Location Services.
