Freeze
A post reaction that flags content as potentially misleading or unverified. Similar to a community fact-check signal. Posts with many Freeze flags are reviewed and may be de-amplified. It is not a dislike.
Loud
A post reaction that amplifies (reposts) a post to your followers' feeds. Equivalent to a "retweet" or "share". Increases a post's reach.
Verify
A post reaction that signals community endorsement of a post's factual claim. Users tap Verify to indicate they can independently confirm the content. A high Verify count increases a post's credibility and visibility.
S-Points
SoroSoke's contributor reward metric. Earned through meaningful civic engagement — verifying posts, creating content, Loud-ing posts. S-Points are multiplied by your badge tier, so higher-tier contributors earn faster. Tracked in Settings → My S-Points.
S-Points Balance
Your running total of S-Points, shown in Settings → My S-Points. The balance is used to rank you on the leaderboard. It is not a financial asset and cannot be converted to cash.
S-Points History
A log of every action that earned or deducted S-Points on your account — including the badge multiplier applied at the time. Found in Settings → My S-Points → View S-Points History.
Badge Multiplier
A factor applied to your raw activity points to calculate S-Points earned. Higher badge tiers have higher multipliers. For example, if you earn 5 raw points for a verify and your multiplier is 2×, you receive 10 S-Points.
LGA (Local Government Area)
One of Nigeria's 774 Local Government Areas. SoroSoke uses your LGA to localise your feed, post tags, trending topics, and leaderboard ranking.
Topic Feed
A feed of all posts tagged with a specific hashtag topic. Accessed by tapping any hashtag in a post or in the Trending section.
OTP (One-Time Password)
A 6-digit code sent to your phone via SMS for sign-in or identity verification. Codes expire after 10 minutes.
Poll
A post format that lets users vote on a question with 2–4 answer options. Poll results show vote counts and percentages, broken down by voters' LGA.
Leaderboard
A ranking of top civic contributors on SoroSoke, organised by LGA and state. Position is based on S-Points balance.
Trending
Topics, hashtags, or discussions that are generating unusually high activity in a given time period. Trending content is surfaced per LGA, state, and nationally.
Anonymous Session
A limited browsing mode that allows users to read content without creating an account. Posting, reacting, and messaging require a registered account.
Company Profile
A verified business or organisation profile on SoroSoke. Created via Settings → Create Company. Distinct from a personal profile.
Referral
A system where existing users invite others to join SoroSoke using a unique referral code, earning S-Points when the invitee signs up.
Handle / Username
Your unique identifier on SoroSoke, beginning with @. For example, @amaka_enugu. Used by others to find and mention you.
FCM (Firebase Cloud Messaging)
The underlying technology used to deliver push notifications to Android devices. Requires notification permission to be granted in device settings.
