SoroSoke Alerts let you follow specific topics or LGAs so you are notified when new posts matching your interests are published — even from people you don't follow.
What are SoroSoke Alerts?
Alerts are topic and location-based subscriptions. When a post with a hashtag or from an LGA you are subscribed to is published, you receive a notification. This is useful for tracking ongoing civic issues — for example, an alert on #WaterShortageKano would notify you every time someone posts about that topic.
Setting up an alert
Open any Topic Feed by tapping a hashtag in a post or from the Trending screen.
Tap the bell icon at the top of the Topic Feed to subscribe to alerts for that topic.
You will receive a push notification whenever a new post is tagged with that topic.
LGA-based alerts
SoroSoke automatically delivers content from your detected LGA. For alerts from a specific LGA that is not yours, browse to that LGA's content in the Trending section and subscribe using the bell icon.
Managing your alerts
To view and manage your active alerts:
Go to Settings → Notifications.
Under Alerts & Subscriptions, you will see all topics you are currently subscribed to.
Toggle any alert off to unsubscribe, or tap the trash icon to remove it entirely.
Alert frequency
For high-volume topics, SoroSoke may batch notifications to avoid overwhelming you. Rather than one notification per post, you may receive a digest notification like "15 new posts about #FuelPricesAbuja". Tap it to open the Topic Feed and see all recent posts.
Set alerts for your LGA's most important ongoing issues — infrastructure, elections, health, security — and be the first to know when members of your community post updates. Staying informed earns you engagement opportunities and S-Points.
