Push notifications let SoroSoke alert you to activity — new messages, likes, follows, and more — even when you're not actively using the app. They are delivered via Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) on Android.
Enabling push notifications on Android
When you first install SoroSoke on Android, you may be prompted to allow notifications. Tap Allow.
If you dismissed this prompt, go to your device's Settings → Apps → SoroSoke → Notifications.
Ensure Show notifications is toggled on.
Return to SoroSoke — notifications will now be delivered to your device.
What triggers a push notification
- Someone likes or comments on your post.
- Someone mentions you in a post or comment.
- Someone follows you.
- You receive a new direct message.
- One of your posts is Loud'd (amplified).
- You earn S-Points.
- Important account or system alerts.
Managing which notifications you receive
Inside the app, you can customise which categories of notification are delivered. Go to your device's Android notification settings for SoroSoke and manage notification channels — each type (Messages, Likes, Mentions, etc.) is a separate channel that can be enabled or silenced individually.
Push notifications on the web app
Push notifications on the web version (app.sorosokegpl.com) require your browser to grant notification permission. You will be prompted on first use. If you previously denied this, go to your browser's site settings for app.sorosokegpl.com and change notifications to Allow.
Troubleshooting push notifications
- Not receiving any notifications — confirm notifications are enabled both in the app and in device settings.
- Delayed notifications — in Battery Saver or Doze mode, Android may delay notifications. Add SoroSoke to your battery optimisation exceptions: Settings → Battery → Battery Optimisation → SoroSoke → Don't optimise.
- Notifications arriving but silent — check that the SoroSoke notification channels are not muted in your device notification settings.
