SoroSoke Direct Messaging (DM) lets you have private, one-on-one conversations with other users. You can send text, photos, videos, and voice messages.
Starting a conversation
Open Messages
Tap the Messages icon (chat bubble) in the bottom navigation bar on mobile, or in the left sidebar on web.Start a new message
Tap the compose (pencil) icon in the top-right corner of the Messages screen.Find the recipient
Search for the user by name or @username. Select them from the results.Type your message and send
Type in the message field at the bottom and tap the send arrow, or attach media first.
Sending photos and videos
In an open conversation, tap the photo icon in the message toolbar to attach a photo. You can choose to:
- Take a photo with your camera (Android/iOS only)
- Upload from your gallery
For videos, tap the video icon. Videos up to 20 MB can be sent. If your video is larger, you will need to compress it first before sending. You can also record a short video directly with your camera.
Sending voice messages
Tap and hold the microphone icon in the message toolbar to record a voice message. Release to send, or slide left to cancel. Voice messages are a quick alternative to typing long messages.
Message requests
If you receive a message from someone you don't follow, it will appear as a message request. You can accept or decline the request. Declining removes the conversation without notifying the sender.
Deleting messages
To delete a message you sent, press and hold (long-press) it in the conversation and select Delete. This removes the message from both your view and the recipient's view.
Direct messages are private between you and the recipient. Do not use messaging to send spam, unsolicited promotions, or harassing content. Doing so may result in your account being suspended.
