Intellectual Property

SoroSoke respects intellectual property rights and expects all users to do the same. This article covers what you can and cannot post, and how to report violations.

Ownership of content you post

You retain ownership of any original content you post on SoroSoke — your photos, videos, voice notes, and text. By posting, you grant SoroSoke a non-exclusive licence to display and distribute your content to other users within the platform. This does not transfer ownership.

Content you must have rights to post

Only post content you created yourself or have the legal right to share. This includes:

  • Music, video clips, or audio recordings owned by third parties — you need a licence or explicit permission.
  • Photographs or artwork taken or made by someone else.
  • News articles or journalism reproduced in full — a short excerpt with attribution is generally acceptable; full reproduction is not.
  • Logo or trademarks of companies or organisations without authorisation.

Fair use and public interest

Nigerian copyright law and international norms allow for limited use of copyrighted material for purposes of commentary, criticism, news reporting, and education. If you are posting a short clip or excerpt as part of a civic report or factual commentary, ensure your post adds original analysis and clearly attributes the source.

Reporting an intellectual property violation

If you believe your copyright has been infringed on SoroSoke, contact us at support@sorosokegpl.com with:

  • A description of the copyrighted work that has been infringed.
  • A link to the infringing post on SoroSoke.
  • Your contact information and a statement confirming you are the rights holder or their authorised representative.

We will review valid reports and remove infringing content within 5 business days. Repeat infringers will have their accounts suspended.
